Originally from South Carolina and more recently based in Nashville, Tennessee, Kyshona Armstrong is a roots musician who fuses together influences from Blues through Gospel to Soul with a little country for good measure (how could you escape that when Nashville is your base?). This episode came about through a fair few degrees of separation as my wife used to work with Kyshona's cousin who told us of the upcoming tour via another mutual friend in the US. I'm glad it all worked out as she's a serious talent!
It's also the first anniversary of The Proc-Cast and as a bit of a celebration, there are three episodes coming up, including this one, which feature amazing musicians all the way from Nashville. Kyshona is the first of the three, who all recently toured the UK together selling out venues all over. The other ladies are Sarah Darling and Jenn Bostic who you'll see and hear more from over the coming weeks.
We're back on the Country trail this week with Ryan Farmer. Ryan is a shy guy with a big voice, he obviously loves his music and is keen to show it to the world, on his own terms. He doesn't want to play stadiums and sell out big venues. Small intimate gigs are more his thing. If you want to see one of these gigs, head down to Rough Trade in Nottingham on November 21st 2015 for the launch of his new EP, Lurch.
